Linh believes that everyone should have a shot at the American Dream. That no matter where you’re from, what color your skin, who you love, or how much money your family has, everyone should have a fair shot and the opportunity to achieve their greatest potential. As a candidate for Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, Providence District, Linh is committed to building One Fairfax for all.
Three decades ago, Linh’s father fled Vietnam as a refugee because he believed that America is a land of opportunity. After 10 years of separation, Linh immigrated to the U.S. and reunited with his father in Oakland, California. Despite the challenges of poverty, language, and cultural barriers, he had the consistent support of his family, church, and teachers who believed in him. His quality public school education pushed him to reach his potential, preparing him to graduate from Georgetown University and opening up a world of possibilities.
Linh works in the private sector as a technology professional helping companies and government agencies implement new technologies to drive efficiencies and accountability. Linh also helps innovative startups and small businesses commercialize and pursue federal contracting opportunities. To help level the playing field for small businesses, Linh serves on the Virginia Small Business Financing Authority, administering over $1.7 billion in bond financings and $70 million in loans to support child care, clean energy, and public-private partnership transportation projects. He helped finance key projects in the Providence District such as the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway and Inova Center for Personalized Health.
Linh has served on the boards of the Fairfax County Democratic Committee, 11th Congressional District Democratic Committee, Democratic Asian Americans of Virginia, Virginia LGBT Caucus, and DNC LGBT Caucus to engage more Americans in the political process and ensure that our political institutions are more inclusive, responsive, and accountable.
Linh’s experience working in the community has provided him a deep knowledge of the important issues facing local residents and small business owners. Linh will bring new energy, innovative leadership, and a renewed commitment to the Board for the core values of creating good‐paying jobs, maintaining a world-class education system, and protecting our environment.
Linh lives in the Circle Woods neighborhood of the Providence District. He is an avid runner, and you will frequently find him on the Gerry Connolly Cross County Trail.
Why I am running
We need leaders who understand our changing economy. As a technology professional and member of the Virginia Small Business Financing Authority, I have the experience to promote international trade, good-paying jobs, and small business growth.
We need leaders who understand our changing communities. As the son of a Vietnamese refugee and a member of the LGBTQ community, I have spent my life promoting civic and political engagement and I will bring these values to the Board.
We need leaders who embrace opportunities for all. I believe in a Fairfax that works for everyone, no matter the color of your skin, how much money you have, or who you love.
